Lecture and Lab Hours/Week:  4 weeks/40 hours per week

Course Description: This comprehensive Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training program will prepare candidates for a career in commercial truck driving.

Course Requirements:  Student must

 

·         Possess a valid driver’s license

·         Be 18 years of age in South Carolina (21 to drive in all states)

·         Pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical administered the first week or class.

·         Pass a DOT drug screen administered in class

·         An acceptable criminal record

·         A good work history

·         Provide a 10-year motor vehicle report

·         Be able to comprehend and converse in English

·         Prior to registration, students must complete an interview to fully understand the program details.

·         Completion of all paperwork required before training starts

 

Attendance Requirements:  80%  

 

Evaluation Strategies/Grading:  Students evaluated by instructor by written and oral examinations and demonstration of range and highway skills given at predetermined intervals. Students are required to maintain a 3.0 average.
