Hand Tools Course Details Lecture Hours/Week: 8 hrs per week Lab Hrs/Week: Contact Hours: 75 Course Description: This course covers the use of hand tools and their application in industrial and service areas.
Course Competencies: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be competent to perform the following tasks: · Demonstrate the safe and correct use of a torque wrench. · Identify different grade bolts. · Show how to read a torque value chart. · Demonstrate the safe and correct usage of a hacksaw. · Demonstrate the correct way to install a blade. · Show the ability to pick the correct blade for different materials. · Identify the correct safety Personal Protective Equipment for various jobs. · Demonstrate how to wear PPE correctly. · Describe how PPE can protect the worker. · Demonstrate the ability to perform layout work. · Demonstrate how to use a square. · Demonstrate how to use a compass. · Demonstrate how to use various measuring devices. · Demonstrate how to drill and tape holes safely. · Demonstrate the correct usage of a drill press. · Identify all parts of a drill press. · Demonstrate the ability to choose the correct drill bits. · Demonstrate the ability to drill holes safely
