Are Scooters permitted in the Intermediate class?
Yes. Scooters in SC are classified and registered as motorcycles. Therefore, the operator required a motorcycle license to operate a scooter on the highway. A moped by law cannot travel faster than 35 MPH on flat land, are not registerd through DMV, can be operated with a Class "D" car license or a special Class "G" moped license and are not insured. Mopeds are not motorcycles and are not authorized for use in any of our motorcycle classes.

Intermediate Class: Students must have a motorcycle learner’s permit (for a minimum of 60 days) or a valid motorcycle license.

Will I get an insurance discount if I take a motorcycle rider course?
The law in SC is that insurance companies may give a discount for persons completing a rider education course. Students who successfully complete any of the three courses are eligible for the insurance discount.
Will I earn a waiver for the state DOT motorcycle road test by successfully completing a course?
Students with a valid learner’s permit who successfully pass the SC DMV motorcycle license road test during a Beginner, Intermediate or Experienced Motorcycle class will be eligible for a road test waiver.
Can a passenger take the course with me?
Passengers are permitted in the Experienced class only. Both the rider and passenger must be fully registered students. Passengers must be able to place their feet on the motorcycle’s foot pegs.
